Humble House Foods


Luis Morales started his culinary career at the Center for Foods of the Americas. He was part of the second graduating class in the pilot program launched by the Culinary Institute of America in San Antonio, 2006. Upon graduation, Luis went to work for local restaurants, hotels, and country clubs in San Antonio to hone his craft. Some of these establishments include The Argyle Country Club, Embassy Suites Hotel, and Il SognoOsteria.

In 2009, Luis and his wife started Humble House Foods. The small food manufacturing company coincided with the launch of the Pearl Farmers Market. For the next three years, Luis was the only artisanal cheese maker in San Antonio. In 2011, he co-founded the local chapter of Slow Food South Texas. Since then one of the primary focuses of Luis’ time and effort has been community outreach. He has helped start small businesses in San Antonio by offering free guidance and kitchen space to new or young artisanal food entrepreneurs. In 2013-14 Humble House focused its outreach efforts towards non-culinary professionals, giving free cooking demonstrations three times a week to the customers of the Pearl Farmers Market.

Luis continues to build upon the local food culture by working closely with farmers and restaurants and fostering relationships to enhance every aspect of the San Antonio food ecosystem. You can meet him in person at the Pearl Farmers Market every Saturday morning, and sample the unique menu items Humble House Foods creates in their farm-to-table pop-up restaurant.
