Rum has no rules.
Rum is the ‘Wild West’ of spirit categories.
Rum is rum is rum..... right?
In articles, forums, and educational seminars our cocktail culture and beverage media have continually propagated these nonsense, click-bait ‘headlines’ about the wide world of rum. But at long last, these marketing agendas and colonialist misinformation campaigns have come up against a new wave of hospitality professionals that genuinely prize the expression of a self-defined and true identity. The Guardians of Rum are stepping in to help realign the conversation around this noble spirit.
In this lively discussion, our panel of rum luminaries come together to recognize the urgent need to protect the cultural identity, authentic practices and geographic influences of traditional rum producers around the world. As we navigate a reinvigorated culture of greater personal and communal authentic identity, we invite everyone to join us in supporting the protection of the culture, traditions, identity, and integrity of artisanal rum production.
Guardians of Rum is an association of traditional rum producers from around the world, who have come together to protect the identity, culture, traditions and integrity of artisanal rum production. Including producers and master distillers from Barbados, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique, Puerto Rico and the United States.
