Mezcal production is typically carried out by the men in the family, but women have long played important roles too. Female mezcal smugglers made sure mezcal was sold during Mexico's prohibition, and today’s mezcaleras are emerging as a strong force in the marketplace. This seminar will examine how women have made their mark in mezcal’s history, and explore their opportunities in the industry’s future.
